Proposal

I intend on creating a magazine as part of my main task. The brief specifies that it must be a regional magazine targeted towards a specific area/location. Due to originating from the North-East of England, I feel as if it will be most appropriate to chose this region. I will be creating four pages which include a front cover, two hyperlinked pages from a respected magazine website and a billboard advertisement for the magazine.

The main genre of my magazine will be lifestyle. I have chosen this genre as I feel it will allow me to create a magazine that includes various themes such as music, film and television. This is opposed to a magazine that may feature a singular feature such as travel. I will be researching the existing magazines Crack Magazine and Empire Magazine as they are of a similar standard and genre.

AS Reflection

How it went: Throughout AS year I felt like I had achieved a lot in regards to media production. I was introduced to the software Photoshop in which would enable me to create the product I envisioned. I adapted to learning other skills involving research, planning and analysis.

Strengths: Due to my prior non-existant experience of Photoshop, I am extremely pleased with the final product of my music magazine. I believe the research into existing successful publications benefited me in the creation process. I have provided a detailed analysis of my evaluations of AS which should further help with the start of A2.

Weaknesses: Originally, I found the use of the software Photoshop difficult as I have previously stated. I found that with no help from an experienced lecturer, I resulted to YouTube videos and my peers around me, who also had little to no experience.

Plans for A2: I will continue to research YouTube tutorials as I feel this is extremely beneficial to how my final product will turn out.
