Visual Interpretation of Target Audience
This is my visual interpretation of my target audience will look like. Firstly, I have created a blank face that includes all the characteristics someone who would purchase my magazine would have. As my target is unspecific, I have included both male and female to illustrate this. As my magazine is entertainment focused, gender isn't an issue. I have included that my primary audience will be between the ages of 16-25 and this is because students that are included in this range have hobbies and interests that include music, film and television; which I have also noted. As a regional magazine I will also be adding colloquial language to provide a touch of informality to my magazine as I want it to have a friendly, easy-reading feel. The internet has such a dominance with this current generation and the era we live in so I have added this feature so my magazine will have interactions online, for readers/customers to access.
My secondary audience is also important as I am also targeting my magazine towards them. I have increased the age range to 26-45 as I feel the content included such as music, film and television will appeal to them as they will have the funds to be able to afford the recommendations that are included. They will typically be working with full time jobs so they should be able to be less care free about their funds for leisure. They may also be married with children and this is an important factor as a magazine may impact their family life and what they do for fun as it can include things to do for all ages.
Interview Structure - Target Audience
The above screenshots will be how I will structure my interview with someone from my target audience. This interview between Jeremy Paxton and Russell Brand demonstrates the camera angles I will be using. For instance, I will continuously use a medium two shot in order to show the involvement of both the interviewer and the interviewee. I will also use medium shot's of the guest as they are my target audience and should have the primary focus of the interview. Additionally, I'll be using close up's of the guest if they begin to talk about what they like feel passionate or strong about. An element I have noticed is that the camera never focuses solely on Paxman, the interviewer. This is due to the fact it's not his questions that are the focus, but rather the answer's the guest provides.
Recreation - Billboard (The Imitation Game)
I chose to recreate the highly successful and critically acclaimed "The Imitation Game" (2014) staring actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The second image is my interpreation of the billboard used to advertise the film. With research into the use of fonts used for the film, I have tried to recreate this to look identical. For the title of the film and the tagline "He saved millions of lives during World War II", I used Bangla Sangam MN Bold on Photoshop. For the rest of the font, specifically "Honor the man. Honor the film". I used Baskerville Regular which also mirrored the original used.

Feedback #1
This is my initial feedback I have received about the pitch for my regional magazine. Each of my peers from my class have assessed my ideas for my magazine and provided praise and constructive criticism of how I can improve. Additionally, my lecturer has also made an evaluation of my opening ideas providing a healthy mixture of good and constructive feedback. With the information I have received I will make amendments to make my regional magazine stronger.
I received strong appraisal from my peers in regards to how I presented my ideas through Emaze. They felt it appeared very professional and the billboard theme also holds reference to my genre style which is entertainment. Additionally, due to the fact I also have to create a billboard as part of my ancillary task. Another notable comment include references to high quality of explanation I included about the creation of my magazine. For instance, one comment include that I included a "clear view of research" as I know exactly the style of genre I want to include, and the features/articles that will be included. Furthermore, one comment included that it was great to link back to existing magazines and the thought process behind attracting a reader.

My peers also provided constructive feedback in order to further my magazine ideas and create an overall better magazine. One noticeable lacking feature included no mention of a magazine, as of yet I am still undecided to what I want to call the magazine as a trio of music, television and film is so fresh and original that I want the name to represent this brand and ideology. One commenter felt they would have enjoyed an explanation to why my genre is entertainment. I chose this because I felt there was a gap in the market for this combination of features. There was also question's regarding the price of the magazine. I will go back and address this as I feel it is helpful to mention. As my target audience is 16-25 I will be making it free as a wide range of this audience will be students and ranked D/E in the socio-economic code.
Likewise to my peers, my lecturer complemented my identification of target audience as this is who my magazine will aim towards. I also followed the convention of including an advert as this is very standard and professional for a magazine to do so. It was also noted that included strong initial ideas of making my magazine regional, by including musicians and filming locations related to the North-East and Yorkshire. I also visually explained how I am envisioning my magazine by including relevant images that I would like to use. My lecturer also made valid points regarding how to improve my magazine. These included how often I would issue my magazine? The answer to that question would be monthly as I feel this would create a highly anticipated buzz each month. All my features would be interesting and relevant and I wouldn't just be writing about anything boring or mundane.
I will now take the advice I have received on-board and try use this information the best of my ability in order to ensure that my end product is successful and meets all the appropriate needs, specifically continuing the regional theme.

Flat Plan and Rationale - Article Page
This is the flat plan for my article page. I will be including an image of a band that will consist of a long shot that will cover almost 50% of my page. There will also be a sub image that is in a long shot that will show the crowd from the festival that the images were taken at. I will have permission from the model and their photographers to use these professional images. Since this article will feature a rock band I will be using very dark colours to represent their style of music. I will use a hit of red though as this colour has strong connotations to the genre featured. My house style will also be maintained throughout. The main font that I will be using is "American Captain" and "Porter Bold" this is because they are very sharp fonts that have the correct balance between a thin font and a thick font. As a regional band from a regional magazine, I will heavily be using colloquial language from the region to create an authentic feel to the article piece. The composition of the page will appear very professional as the images will be at the top of the page whilst the corresponding text will be below. I will also use a running head along the top of the page to provide continuity between the front cover, contents page and article page.
Flat Plan and Rationale - Contents Page
This is my initial idea of what my contents page will appear like. I have ensured that I use all the conventions I have learned from AS and from magazine research in order to achieve the highest grade possible.
I have chosen to apply continuity throughout my magazine by reapplying my masthead as a prominent feature on my contents page. The major attraction to my contents page however, is my main image as this acts as a visual preview to what is included in the magazine. This will be accommodated with a paragraph of text as a preview to entice the reader into further developing their knowledge of this topic. Additionally, I will include two sub images that will correspond with the main image. For example, if the main image is related to music, then the sub images will be film and television related. This provides still a balanced entertainment magazine, however, the main focus is still prominently shown.
The column situated on the far left acts as my index for the music, film and television that is mentioned throughout my magazine. This provides an organised guide to the customer of the magazine. The far right columns are where the major articles will be featured, all relating to music, television and film. The subheadings will clearly state the category, with bullet pointed text to direct the reader to a specific page number. I will also include an advertisement feature at the bottom which will display the magazine subscription service as a way to attract customers on a long term basis.
Flat Plan and Rationale - Front Cover
The featured image will be the primary focus of my magazine cover as it is usually the first attribute of a magazine that the audience will look at. The main cover line will be written in a large, bold font in order to attract the customer towards the magazine. It will be short and snappy to provide a fast reading experience. This is also the second most important feature to a front cover as the headline provides a brief caption of what the article will be about inside.
With the inclusion of a puff, this allows me to follow a popular magazine convention as this is a way to promote my magazine and the information, articles and images that is inside. It is imperative that the puff would be a contrasting color to the rest of my magazine as it would need to stand out for it to be recognized instantly.
I will also aim to use a variety of sub-images as means to attract a wider audience, due to the fact the main image may not suit everyone. For instance, the main image of one issue could be music, whereas the following could be film. I intend to create a magazine cover that achieves the medium between busy and bare, in respect that I want to provide as much information as possible but so my features appear overcrowded.

Flat Plan and Rationale - Advert Page
This is my flat plan for my advert page that I will create for my regional, entertainment magazine. The dominant image I will be using will be a low angle shot that will show the cinema branch "Empire Cinemas" in Sunderland as part of a promotional advertisement. To complement the image that will be taken in a cinematic format due to the low angle, I will use several promotional banners to act as brief information as the it should be short and snappy to attract an audience. I will take my image during the day so that the light is ambient to feel very friendly and natural. I will be using very cinematic fonts that are associated with film. Due to empire cinema's main color being purple, I will try complement this by using the same color and also darker tones such as blue and black. As a branch located in Sunderland, North-East England I will be using a colloquial register to try attract students who are within my target audience of 16-25.

Regional Moodboard
The above image is a mood-board that I have created from a selection of regional entertainment industries. Compromising of music, film and television, all of the above images have a relation to the North East of England. For instance, I have selected Northern bands such as The Cribs and Maximo Park. I have also inserted images from television and film that either are set in this region ("Hebburn" and "Byker Grove") or filming has taken place ("Macbeth [2015]" and "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"). I aim to use this mood-board as an inspiration throughout the creative process of my regional magazine.
